Decorated with a stylised carnation and saz leaf in a Persian style adapted from a Chinese design. The border has been decorated with a brown wash. The reverse with an accurate copy of a Chinese kraak dish.
This type of material is sometimes called stone-paste or fritware; a fairly low fired ware made to imitate the Chinese porcelain that passed through Iran on the Silk route. Although it succeeds in being slightly translucent it is not a true porcelain.
