Seated with right hand raised, supported on his conically spreading robe covered with flower sprays.
A faience factory was established in Berlin in 1678 on the orders of the Elector of Brandenburg, Frederick I. It was established under the guidance if Dutch potters who imported the technology from Delft.

A series of standing Chinese figures is quite well known, this model is rare. A figure of a lady, possibly a pendant to this group from the Märkisches Museum , Berlin, is illustrated in ‘Barock-Fayencen, Kurmäkische Manufacturen’, (1994), fig. 57.
