Of a type traditionally referred to as Ai-kutani, meaning that it was made for the domestic rather than export market and suggesting a higher quality than that of the later wares.
To the centre are two overlapping pieces of paper, one decorated with a grasses on top of the other piece with the corner folded showing a geometric design on the other side. The border moulded with a design of Japanese characters.
